Harmful gambling often starts as entertainment and then consumes more time, money, and emotional energy than you planned.

Behavioural signs

  • Spending more time or money than you first decided, or trying to win back losses.
  • Hiding spending or lying to people close to you.
  • Neglecting work, study, or sleep because of gambling.

Emotional signs

  • Irritability when someone comments on gambling or when you try to cut down.
  • Anxiety or low mood tied to bets or debt.
  • Using gambling to escape stress or painful memories.
